A national care watchdog has given a care home in Godalming the seal of approval, with relatives and residents praising its caring and attentive team members.
The Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) report gave Care UK’s Jubilee House care home on Pound Lane an overall ‘good’ rating, following an unannounced inspection.
The home received ‘outstanding’ in the level of care category. It also received ‘good’ ratings in all other categories, including safety, effectiveness, responsiveness and having a well-led service.
Praise was given for the care that each team member showed towards the residents, and their friends and family members who repeatedly praised the team’s kindness and support. It was also observed that they respected people’s privacy and upheld their dignity at all times. A relative said: “There are always plenty of team members and they do a fantastic job at looking after everyone.”
The inspector reported excellent interaction between residents and team members, and observed them sharing conversations and lots of laughter. The residents were relaxed in the company of the team members, who supported them to participate in group activities and encouraged them to retain their independence. One resident commented: “They help me to look after myself and they are kind.”
The report also found that Jubilee House placed strong emphasis on emotional well-being through the provision of social activities designed to have a positive impact on resident’s lives. The team supported all residents to be involved as much as they wanted to be, and visitors were also welcomed at all times to join in. It was also noted Jubilee House has a comprehensive programme of activities for residents to enjoy outside of the home.
The inspector described the atmosphere as relaxed, friendly and inclusive, with both residents and relatives expressing that they felt valued and that their views were listened to. Any issues raised were handled in an open, transparent and honest way, and the team also held regular relatives meetings where they were able to express their views and receive advice.

To assess service standards at Jubilee House, the CQC’s inspector spoke with team members, residents and their visiting relatives on the day of the inspection. They also reviewed the records and procedures already in place at the care home.
Jubilee House has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full time personalised residential, nursing and respite care for older people, as well as specialist care for individuals living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.
