Free Advice Event comes to Surrey Care Homes
Two care homes in Surrey are inviting the local community to free events for families caring for a loved one living with dementia.
On Wednesday, 20 September from 10am-12noon, the Care UK team at Broadwater Lodge will open the doors to the care home on Summers Road. Then from 2pm-4pm, the team at Jubilee House will open the doors to the care home on Pound Lane for its ‘Understanding Dementia’ event.
Dementia specialist, Dr Nori Graham, will be on hand at both events to help people understand what it might be like to live with dementia. There will also be support and practical advice on what dementia is and how memories are lost, as well as useful tips on how to overcome communication barriers. The aim is to help people discover positive approaches to caring for loved ones living with dementia.
After both events there will be a Q&A session, and those who attend will also have the chance to meet the teams and take a closer look at the care homes.
Totka Zhelyazkova, Home Manager at Jubilee House, said: “Here at Jubilee House, we strongly believe professional knowledge, insight and shared experiences can make a real difference to the everyday lives of those caring for loved ones living with dementia.
“We are looking forward to welcoming local people to Jubilee House for what promises to be an interesting and inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.”
