DESCRIPTION:The Godalming Film Society is extremely happy to announce the start of its 15th season and plan to return to the Borough Hall in Godalming to screen films in-venue from Tuesday\, 7 September 2021. \nWe are a members only society which celebrates cinema by screening films that are rarely seen on the main circuit\, with an emphasis on world cinema. \nIf you love film and have missed the big screen experience and the opportunity to meet with friends; please come along to one of our screenings….check out our website  which includes the season’s programme. DESCRIPTION:SONNET WALKS COME TO GODALMING \nAs well as being St George’s Day\, 23 April is widely recognised as the day on which William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564. Across the birthday weekend itself\, the popular SONNET WALK WEEKEND (23 & 24 April) will take to the streets for its 9th incarnation. Part immersive adventure\, part mystery tour\, 28 hour-long performances will see groups of walkers following an especially designed self-guided route. Along the way they’ll encounter actors in everyday settings poised to share a sonnet or speech… but where are they\, and who’s an actor and who’s not?! \nThis year for the first time\, courtesy of the Guildford Shakespeare Company\, the walks will be taking to the streets of GODALMING\, revealing some of the town’s hidden heritage gems along the way. There will be a new line up of 18 films this season – all on Tuesdays at the usual time of 7:45 pm. \nFor the 15th season we have a wonderful selection of films to show – classics new and old such as The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and Minari; films from the UK\, Iceland\, Japan\, and more; stars like Catherine Deneuve\, Walter Matthau\, and Frances McDormand; and movies covering 11 different genres! \nAfter a year of successfully delivering our films online to members\, we cannot wait to be seeing films on the big screen with you all again. \nThe complete details of all the films we intend to show this season are available on our website\, along with information about our plans for the season ahead. \nIt is extremely easy to join. \nIf you would like to join or re-join\, please download the membership form from the website\, fill it out and email back to us at me*****@******************rg.uk Membership is £35 for the year and gives you entry to all streaming/screenings of our films.
