Godalming Town Council

On the announcement of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh on 9 April 2021, Godalming Town Council wishes to express its profound sadness, along with the people of Godalming, on the passing of His Royal Highness Prince Philip.

An online Book of Condolence is available for members of the public to sign by visiting the palace website.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions we are unable to accommodate floral tributes.  Members of the public are encouraged to make charitable donations in lieu of floral tributes to a charity of their choice.  Any floral tributes that are laid will be moved to Orange Court Farm on the Loseley Estate.

Godalming’s Parish Church of St Peter & St Paul will be open for 3 days this week for people who may be looking for somewhere to go to express their feelings and respond in prayer.

The church will be open from 10am until 2pm on Tuesday 13th, Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th April. There is a notice outside the building and stewards will be on duty to facilitate the opening each day.

There will be no Book of Condolence in church but people can make an entry in Guildford Cathedral’s online book of condolence and/or light a virtual candle online.
