On Thursday, 12 February, Charterhouse Schola Cantorum and Symphony Orchestra will be performing Bach’s superlative St Matthew Passion.
Written for two choirs, two orchestras and soloists, Bach’s monumental work tells the story of Christ’s crucifixion from the gospel of St Matthew.
Probably the most famous of Bach’s large scale choral works, this piece is rarely performed due to its scale.
With internationally renowned soloists for the arias and Evangelist role, and character roles sung by advanced Charterhouse musicians, this performance will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for the performers, and we hope very much that we will be able to fill the chapel for this incredibly special event.
