CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the head of paid services and the Council’s senior officer, known as the ‘Proper Officer’. The CEO’s main role is to advise the Council, ensure decisions are lawful and to implement those decisions.  As the Council’s Responsible Finance Officer, the CEO ensures the Council meets its Statutory Financial duties.

The Deputy Chief Officer deputises for the CEO and is the Council’s lead for Planning, the Environment, Human Resources, and Staffing matters.

COMMUNITY SERVICES & COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

Suzie Gortler

As well as being the Council’s Safeguarding Officer, the Community Services and Communications Officer is responsible for the development and delivery of community initiatives and events, including the Council’s annual Staycation program, festivals and markets and floral Godalming.  The Community and Communications Officer also manages the Council’s social media presence.

The Head of Youth Services is responsible for the management of Godalming Town Council’s Youth Service and is supported by the Youth Centre Manager and a team of Youth Support Workers.

GODALMING MUSEUM CURATOR

Rhiannon Jones

Supported by an Education and Outreach Officer, the Museum Support Manager and a Museum Assistant, the Curator works with the Godalming Museum Trust to deliver a museum service for Godalming and the surrounding villages with a particular responsibility for the care of, and access to, the museum collections.

ADMINISTRATIVE & FINANCE SUPPORT

The Administrative & Finance Support Staff work across the Council’s service areas to support the day-to-day delivery of Council services.

BUILDINGS, OPEN SPACES & CEMETERIES

Led by the Operations and Compliance Officer, the Council’s workforce of four maintenance staff manage and look after the Council’s land and properties, including its public spaces and Eashing and Nightingale Cemeteries.

SERGEANT-AT-MACE

This is an honorary role, the duties of which are to accompany the Mayor on Civic occasions.
