Temporary Change to Bus Service 42 due to Road Closure in Hascombe 5 August – 29 August
Temporary Change to Bus Service 42 due to Road Closure in Hascombe 5 August – 29 August:
Thames Water need to completely close The Street in Hascombe to traffic, to enable long-overdue replacement of the water main, between Mare Lane and The White Horse pub. This will be from 5 August until 29 August.
The current bus service 42 runs from Guildford to Cranleigh via Farncombe, Godalming, Busbridge, Hascombe, Dunsfold, Alfold Crossways and Elmbridge Retirement Village.
Due to the nature of local roads and the length of detour required, it will be impossible to maintain service 42 in its complete form or maintain a semblance of the normal timetable, whilst The Street in Hascombe is closed. Compass Bus will therefore operate the service for the duration in three separate segments:
- Guildford to Busbridge (Home Farm Road) via Farncombe and Godalming
- Godalming town centre to Hascombe (Mare Lane) using a minibus – a FREE service
- Hascombe (White Horse) to Cranleigh via Dunsfold, Alfold Crossways and Elmbridge
Details will be posted at bus stops and on the SCC and Compass Bus websites.
Compass Bus and Surrey County Council are extremely grateful to Thames Water who are funding additional operating costs, including the provision of the minibus to allow the area of Hascombe at the north end of the road closure to continue to receive a bus link to Godalming.
