As Godalming High Street and Farncombe Village Centre start their recovery from Covid and with the increasing rise in internet shopping, now more than ever, there is a local interest in supporting local retailers to ensure they are there for years to come. Godalming and Farncombe offer a pleasant shopping experience and a sense of community.
The health of the high streets is monitored in two different ways – through vacancy rate data and through footfall intelligence.
Vacancy Rates
Waverley’s Economic Development Team carry out surveys twice a year (in February & September) to monitor the retail vacancy rates on the largest eight high streets in the borough. You can view the latest figures in the table attached and compare them with the current UK average. Footfall data for the wider Waverley area can be found on Waverley’s website.
